Brand new in 2021, Grimm’s have created the most beautiful organically shaped set of wooden blocks. The Four Temperaments puzzle set comprises 61 separate pieces plus tray in an array of rainbow colours. Four puzzles within a puzzle, your child can tackle each one separately, moving up to doing all at once. A template is provided to help guide them. The organic curves and shapes of the blocks also lend themselves to challenging stacking games and as animals, ice, fire, grass, hills, waves, and more in small world play.

Grimm’s have translated the Four Temperaments into a language of form and colour. The predominant temperament determines the specific mood in which someone usually finds themselves. It influences how we feel and experience life, how we think, act or react. Each person is considered to have a unique blend of all Four Temperaments:

• The Melancholic temperament has a compassionate and rather sad nature. It is BLUE, turning inward into the depths, with edges, curves and endurance – like its element, the Earth.
• The Choleric temperament has an active and fiery nature. It is RED, jagged and sometimes sharp-edged. Its impulsiveness belongs to the element of Fire.
• The Phlegmatic temperament is steady and content. It is GREEN and still like the surface of a pond. Its curves and soft shapes correspond to its element, Water.
• The Sanguine temperament radiates cheerfulness and optimism. It is YELLOW and shines from within, losing itself in the periphery or in the sky. Air is its element. 
  

Being hand-finished, each of Grimm’s beautiful offerings is unique, with slightly different shaping, wood markings, grain, and knots showing through the dyes, and paint finishes. Please note they are not varnished nor lacquered, leaving the timber with a beautiful textural feel. Because of this, some minor paint transfer may occur during play. This is considered normal.
